Premiere Social BallRoom NEWS

August 25, 2004

Hello! To all,

I apologize for missing last week’s update, but our internet was finally restored today thanks to our techno guy, Derek .  Thank you, Derek , for your help!

As a result, I have many exciting things to bring you up to date, and ask you to please bear with me on the length of this writing.

Studio closed

First of all, there has been a schedule change as the studio will be closed from Monday, August 30 – Sept. 6th.  We will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7th.  The only exception to this is if you have already scheduled something with your Instructor for that Monday (and you know who you are).

Group Sessions:  (6-7 p.m followed by the Practice Party 7-8:30 p.m.)

Thursday, Aug. 26th        -        Tango         - Our instructor in training, Ian, will be conducting this session.  Please consider joining us to encourage Ian in his development as an Instructor.  He will be happy to have you here!  (He and Catherine S. will be testing on October 2nd for their DVIDA certification.  Kudos to them for all the hard work and time they have dedicated thus far!)

Tuesday, Sept. 7th           -        Foxtrot

Thursday, Sept. 9th         -        Waltz

Celebrations:

          Birthday(s):           Instructor – Lisa Redwanc – Aug. 19th
                                         Eric T. on Sept. 1st

          Anniversary(ies):  Eric & Brandie – Sept. 5th
                                         Dave & Pat B. – Sept. 7th

Holiday :               Happy Labor Day – we hope you have a
                                        relaxing, fun and safe day!

Guest Party:

Friday’s (Aug. 20th) guest party “South of the Border” was a hit!  We had lots of great Mexican food and Latin (from Salsa to Merengue) dancing!  Everyone definitely was exercised for the evening.  At the party, we also introduced a new award system that recognizes a clients’ dance progress and studio support by giving referrals to family & friends, and also your Instructor’s overall performance in the studio.  Recognition and applause was given to:

Top Referral Student 1st Quarter (’04) - Mrs. Joyce Chapman
Top Referral Student 2nd Quarter (’04) – Mrs. Joyce Chapman
Top Student 1st Quarter (’04) – Mrs. Joyce Chapman
Top Student 2nd Quarter (’04) – Ms. Denise Kurtzweil
Top Teacher 1st Quarter (’04) – Ms. Lisa Redwanc
Top Teacher 2nd Quarter (’04) – Ms. Lisa Redwanc

We are so proud of all that you are achieving with your dance and you should be too!  We applaud you!  <clap, clap, clap>

Upcoming Guest Parties:  (7 – 9 p.m.) – each month on the 3rd Friday

Friday, September 17th – 50’s Sock Hop

Friday, October 15th – Halloween/Fall Costume Party

These parties are for you, your family and friends - to show them what you are accomplishing and to provide a social evening where you are essentially the host (but you don’t have to clean house!).  Remember these are complimentary of Premiere Social Ballroom.  Your contribution is an entrée or salad (enough to feed you, your guests plus two others).  We will provide the beverages and dessert (unless dessert is your specialty and you really want to bring dessert).  We will continue our awards & recognition program at the party following the end of each quarter.  We invite you to dress for the theme or whatever is most comfortable for you.  For your comfort, remember that tennis shoes generally are not a good idea.  Smooth soled shoes usually provide the most ease of glide when you dance.  Please RSVP by the Wednesday before with the number attending so that there is plenty for all!  Thank you, again, to all of those that help with organizing these parties.  You make it so easy to have fun with you!

Festival of the Arts Show Results:

We recently had the privilege and honor of being able to present a show for the Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts this past Saturday.  Our members Denise K. , Suzanne L. & Catherine Mc. along with Jerry (Program Coordinator), Ian (Instructor in Training), and Catherine S. (Instructor in Training) gave a half hour show dancing a Swing, Bolero, Merengue, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz and Salsa-Mambo.  Linda, the coordinator, said that the grounds were all abuzz with what they saw and that our show had drawn the largest crowd of the day for that stage.  I estimated at least 150 people, if not more.  Linda was so excited that she has already booked us for an hour long production at next year’s Festival of the Arts.  We are thrilled to share our love of this art form with you and the community!

Tea Dance:  (4th Sunday of the month Sept. – June ; none in December)

As promised when I said, “we will guarantee you a good time” when you and your family and friends attend this complimentary studio function, we have now confirmed our September band.  The Artificial Hip (f.k.a. The Ruff Riders) will be here on Sunday, September 26th from 3 – 5 p.m.  They have a great line up with their nine member band.  They will be giving away band t-shirts for “Client w/ Most Guest”, “Most Enthusiastic Person”, “Most Fun Couple”, “Best Swing Dance” and a general door prize drawing.  Upon arrival, be sure to sign in and drop your name in the box to qualify.  They invite you to meet the band and learn about future gigs by viewing their website at:  http://www.artificialhip.net.  The drummer, Don , has been a friend of mine for years.  I heard them play last year at the Wednesday night State Fair Concert in the Park series (that probably is not the true name of it, but it was ‘free’!), and I was truly impressed with how much fun they are.  Don says they are even better now.  So, my suggestion is that you do not want to miss this fun (free!) event.

We have booked Mr. Gail Beyer and The Ten Tones for a return engagement for our October Tea Dance – Theme:  Halloween Costume Party (per Jerry , ‘birthday suits’ do not qualify!  Tee hee!).  We had the pleasure of dancing to their sounds again at the Festival of the Arts Saturday, as they played right after our performance.  (They played here before at the studio for our May Latin Fest.)  The Ten Tones are also scheduled Friday, September 10th, for the Oconomowoc Memorial Auxiliary fundraiser at Olympia Conference Center & Resort (Oconomowoc) for “On the Wings of Love” which benefits causes such as AngelsGrace Hospice.  There are still plenty of tickets, if you are interested in attending.  Call Diana (262-965-3716) or Ginny (262-567-2752) at the Auxiliary for more details to attend the dinner/dance or to donate an item for the Silent Auction.  We hope to see you there for this worthy cause!

With your permission, we would like to add to our website pictures of studio events.  I promise that I would never post a picture that is blurred or uncomplimentary of you.  If you prefer NOT to have your picture posted, please let a staff member know so that we cause no offense to anyone.  I will ask you to preview the picture(s) we wish to use and sign a release giving us permission to do so.

Lastly, just a reminder that there are spots available if you still wish to consider our October 10-16th studio trip to Miami & 4 Night Caribbean Cruise on Carnival’s Fascination.  If you visit our website at www.PremiereSocial.com and click on “News” and the August 9th update, you can view more information about the boat and the hotel.  This will be the best vacation of your life, because you will do what you love - DANCE!

Have a great Labor Day weekend and look for our next update on September 7th!

Cheers!
